Diving into Customer-Facing Analytics

About a year ago, I announced in a blog post that I was starting a small side hustle to dive deeper into product analytics. Since then, I’ve been actively sharing insights on X and connecting with fellow entrepreneurs. We’ve exchanged best practices, and I’ve been sharing ideas publicly. Recently, an interesting area of analytics has captured my attention: Customer-Facing Analytics.

Typically, when we talk about analytics, we’re referring to BI or other types of internal analytics. But analytics can go far beyond that. Sometimes, we want to offer analytics directly to users as a feature—whether through a comprehensive dashboard or smaller analytics elements integrated throughout an app. Even displaying wait times in a food delivery app is an example of customer-facing analytics.

Throughout my career, I’ve built numerous dashboards for both internal and customer-facing use. For internal dashboards, there are plenty of tools available, like Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI, along with countless other options. However, I have yet to find a tool for customer-facing dashboards that fully meets our needs. This gap led me to dive deeper into the field, connect with others who share this need as well, and learn more.
